City of Miami Police Department Under Fire
After a string of highly-publicized shootings involving the City of Miami Police Department, the U.S. Justice Department has determined that three shootings were “unjustified” while others involved “excessive force”. Now, a federal judge will oversee the department to enforce change.

Miami-Dade County Property Tax Hike
Earlier this week, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez proposed a property tax increase to prevent cuts to library and fire services, as well as funding a no-kill animal shelter. Citing public outcry, the mayor quickly revised his suggested tax hike and gave another option to pay for the shelter.
